[Research Volunteer] Technology and New Media Research Cluster
The Technology and New Media Research Cluster welcome all staff, students, and visiting scholars with an interest to attend any/all of the Cluster’s bespoke sessions, to explore and discuss ongoing research, regardless of academic discipline.
This year the Cluster has invited researchers from a range of disciplines to cover a wide range of research topics, including digital health and democracy, trolling, virtual reality, identity, artificial intelligence and robotics, self-tracking and labour, surveillance, speculative realism and cybernetics, and e-commerce and logistics. Many researchers will join the Cluster exclusively for their session and we therefore encourage anyone with an interest on their topic to not miss the opportunity.
The Cluster convenes fortnightly (with the exception of the first and second sessions which will be in consecutive weeks) on Fridays 12-1.30pm during term. During Michaelmas term all sessions will be held in the Sociology Seminar Room (Free School Lane, CB2 3QA).
Unless otherwise stated, all sessions will consist of a presentation followed by a discussion. Reading(s) will be sent via email and uploaded to the Cluster’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/technologyandnewmedia) a week before each session. Where applicable, presentations and discussion summaries will be made available on Facebook/ via email, following the session. We highly advocate reading the key reading before attending any session. Drinks and snacks will be provided at all sessions.
