[Research Volunteer] Sensorimotor Learning experiment (£20) The Sensorimotor Learning Lab
(http://learning.eng.cam.ac.uk/Public/Wolpert/Volunteers [1]) are recruiting for an EMG (electromyography) experiment looking at how individuals adapt to force-field perturbations. The experiment will involve making reaching movements while grasping the handle of a robotic manipulandum. A force-field will be applied at some point in the experiment and we will observe how you adapt to the force-field over time while measuring your muscle activity. We will first attach 6 EMG (electromyography) electrodes to your arm and shoulder to measure the electrical activity of the muscles (this is completely non-invasive). The experiment will take ~2hr and you will be reimbursed £20 (cash) for your participation. As electrical activity of the muscles will be measured, we would like to only use subjects with low or moderate levels of body fat (particularly around the arm and shoulder areas) in order to ensure quality measurements. In order to attach the electrodes you must wear a loose fitting short sleeved shirt or tank top.
Eligibility: Must not have participated in force-field experiments previously. Low or moderate levels of body fat. Normal (or corrected to normal) vision. Right-handed. Aged 18-45. Have very good command of English.
