Elliot Lynch
I am Elliot Lynch a 1st year PhD student in the Department for Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics. I am running for the joint Secretary and Computing Officer position, to continue the work done by Richard Gunning. By running for both positions I hope to continue to combine the technical side of both roles as done by my predecessor. I have extensive experience working on academic and industrial codes, and a good knowledge of how to maintain these so that subsequent computing officers can make use of them.
I intend to continue to improve the MCR computing systems, particularly ensuring these are adequately backed up. I will look at moving some of these systems to a distribute model which will help in this regard, and make it easier for relevant parties to access/update. Another tasks that will need doing is to complete the update of the events booker that Richard Gunning has been working on. I will also make sure minutes of the committee meetings are available online, so that MCR members will know what was discussed.
