[JOB OPPORTUNITY] SUMMER (JULY) TEACHING VACANCIES FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

Computer Science: Reach Cambridge is looking for PhD and Post-Doctorate students to teach Computer Science on our Computer Science & Maths summer school course in July 2015. We are looking for candidates who are lively, friendly and work well with teenagers to teach on this exciting course. The aims of the course are to give students an introduction to Computer Science & Maths at University level and to provide students with practical computing skills, building on their existing competencies with their own machines. The students are from all over the world, and are aged between 14 and 18 (mostly 16 & 17). They speak fluent English and are often high-achievers.

As well as teachers, we are looking for a Computer Science specialist to be the course coordinator, overlooking the whole course, crafting the course schedule and working closely with the teachers on their sessions.

ESL: Reach Cambridge is looking for TEFL/CELTA-certified teachers to teach on our English as a Second Language summer school course in July 2015. We are looking for candidates who are lively, friendly and work well with teenagers to teach on this exciting course which aims to immerse students in English Language. The students are from all over the world, and are aged between 15 and 18 (mostly 16 & 17). Most students will have good conversational English, and will be looking to gain fluency and improve their written English. We ask all ESL students to complete a language test in advance of the course to provide teachers with insight into their levels.

DATES & HOURS

Exact teaching days & hours for each teacher are dependent on the course schedule. The course dates are:

Monday 29th June – Friday 17th July weekdays, 9am-1pm

PAY

Computer Science/ESL teaching roles: £25/hr, up to a maximum of £900

Computer Science & Maths coordinator role: £1200

Based in Downing College & Trinity Hall, Cambridge

James Chen is the Chairman of Hollyhigh International Capital, the first and largest investment bank that specializes in mergers and acquisitions (M&As) in Mainland China, and an adviser of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games. He is a member of the Securities Association of China (SAC), a member of the central committee in the China National Democratic Construction Association (CNDCA), the chairman of the M&A Elite Club, and a founding member of the Fuping Foundation for poverty alleviation. Mr. Chen graduated from the Department of Economics of Tsinghua University in 1993. After his graduation, Mr. Chen worked as a trader at China Great Wall Financial Company for several years. Then he founded Hollyhigh International Capital in 1998. In addition to his many deals for local fast growing companies, he is actively engaged in M&A for international corporations such as Lafarge, Shell, SK and Scottish & Newcastle. His alma mater took his deal between Teda and the Meilun Group to be the first M&A case study in Chinese MBA programs. He has also given lectures in many renowned institutions, including Harvard University and Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). He was also a visiting scholar of Stanford University from Jul 2012 to Jul 2013 Jul and a guest professor of PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University from Oct 2013.

Energy for the Future: Plugging the decline in energy supply, a gap too big?

Harnessing the energy resources to meet the global energy needs has been a scientific and engineering challenge for decades. The panel will discuss how some of the questions in the increase in energy demand are addressed in their sectors by use of innovation, mix of energy types and bringing energy to those who need it most.

All are welcome, registration is free and refreshments are provided.
