[Event] Africa Together 2019 – Which Way Forward?
Event: Africa Together 2019 – Which Way Forward? (Africa and the global agenda for sustainable development)
Venue: The Cambridge Union
Summary: Africa Together 2019 proposes to showcase the concrete ways in which African policymakers, business leaders, innovators and young people have responded to the call for sustainable action. Bringing together high-profile speakers and panelists from all over the world, the conference will confront complacent assumptions about Africa’s inability to meet the welfare aspirations of its citizens by showing how partnerships, science and technology, creative and innovative solutions as well as a willingness to engage women and other underrepresented groups are being leveraged for real and measurable sustainable growth. As part of our confirmed Keynote speakers and panelists, we have HE Ameenah Gurib-Fakim – Fmr. President, Republic of Mauritius, Benny Dembitzer – Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Obum Ekeke – Head of Computing Education Programs, UK & Africa at Google, Biyi Bandele – award-winning filmmaker and director of Half of a Yellow Sun, to mention a few.
Lunch will be provided at the conference and an African ball follows afterward. The evening will start with welcome drinks, followed by a three-course meal with wine and coffee to finish, and featuring beautiful music. Please see ticketing options for more details and note that our early bird ticket options close on May 26. Visit https://www.africatogether.org.uk/ to register and learn more.’’
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there any questions and/or concerns. We do hope that delegates from Clare College will attend and actively participate in the conference on 1 June 2019.
Sincerely,
Iyeyinka Omigbodun
