[VOLUNTEER] Cambridge Homeless Outreach Programme (CHOP) in need of college reps
I am emailing to ask a small favour on behalf of Cambridge Homeless Outreach Programme (CHOP). CHOP are in need of some more college reps and it would be so great if you could take the time to send an email out to the students in your colleges making them aware of this.
Many of you will have noticed the snowy weather this week – it is in times of severe weather conditions like these that volunteers are needed more than ever. Being a college rep for CHOP is fairly low commitment but still makes a huge difference. Reps are required to host at least one fundraiser within college per term, attend two meetings a term and are encouraged to promote and share CHOP information within their college. When shelters approach us with a need for volunteers, we will reach out to our reps first, before asking the wider student community.
Here’s a little bit about CHOP in case people are unaware: the CHOP executive committee is constantly researching ways in which the student body can provide support for the homeless population in Cambridge. We are the contact-point for students looking to volunteer, as well as campaigning and fundraising for this cause ourselves.
If students wish to apply, could you ask them to send an email to cambridgehomelessoutreach@gmail.com with the subject title ‘College Rep Application’. We are having our first rep meeting of term on Monday the 23rd so I would be so grateful if you could let students know as soon as possible so they have time to apply before then.
Huge thanks,
Megan Jones
President of CHOP
