Every year CUAI stages the Cage Campaign on King’s Lawn where members spend 48 hours manning the petition stall and staying behind bars. The cage has been running for 40-odd years. From one angle, that’s something to be proud of. From another, it illustrates just how long many injustices still drag out.
This year, we’ll be supporting Amnesty International’s Stop Torture campaign, raising awareness amongst the public in Cambridge, getting them to sign a petition, and fundraising. Our particular campaign is to call on Theresa May to condemn Donald Trump’s endorsement of torture.
The Cage Campaign will have an opening cermony at 5pm on Friday 24th, featuring guest speakers.
