[JOB OPPORTUNITY] Academic Enrichment

As part of a new initiative, we are very keen to run a 2 day Socratic Symposium (a sort of festival of learning) in the summer term of 2019 for our year 12s. The premise behind it is to have 2 days set aside for students to be exposed to the wonder of learning through a variety of speakers. It is not a careers convention – it is purely about learning for learning’s sake. And for this, I am hoping that you can help. We would like to have each day open with a key note speaker who would deliver a talk on a controversial topic to get the students thinking.  We would then like a series of professors, PhD students or Masters students in a range of subject areas who could present to small groups – about 15 – on their topic of expertise which can then be opened out to questions from the students who have opted into this session. At the end of each day, we would like to have a debate between two academics about a controversial topic which can then be opened up to the floor for questions.
