[Research volunteer] Department of Biological Anthropology
Hey guys! My name is Mary-Catherine Anderson and I am an MPhil student in the Department of Biological Anthropology at Cambridge studying social networks. For my thesis project, I am constructing a sexual network of Cambridge University students to explore the dynamics of sexual link formation between and within colleges. In order to construct this network, I need about 1000 survey responses from Cambridge students. Please help me out by completing this super quick survey! At the end of the survey, you will have the option to be entered to win a 25 GBP Amazon.com gift card. The link is provided below. Thank you very much!” http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/1968031/Sexual-Network-Formation-Among-Cambridge-University-Students
[For sale] Fiat Punto
I’m moving abroad so am selling my Fiat Punto for £1249 or best offer. Excellent record, recent service and MOT, back seats fold down to give large boot space (fits full-sized bike). Note that parking is available at St Regis, Queen Edith’s House and Netherfield and there are several streets around Cambridge without parking restrictions, e.g. Cranmer Rd -close to Clare Court/Newnham Rd housing and where I kept the car for ~12 months. Email me on mpk33 if interested. Madzia
[Research volunteer] Smoking
I’m urgently looking for participants who smoke at least 5 cigarettes a day, and who would like to give up smoking in the future. If eligible, the study involves a one-off visit (Sidgwick site) lasting just over an hour, in which participants complete questionnaires, a computer task and learn about managing their smoking cravings. There are also two very brief follow-up phone calls, 24 hours and 7 days after participation. Participants are paid £12.50 for their time.
The next step is for people who are interested to contact Sophie asap on camsmokingstudy with a contact phone number. I have study appointments on Monday 30th and Tues 31st March.
This study has been approved by the UCL Research Ethics Committee (Project ID Number): 0760/002
[VOLUNTEER] General election
Call for volunteers to help graduate voter registration for UK General Election
Link to register to vote:http://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
Last year saw the way we register to vote change. Instead of colleges registering on behalf of students, now students must register themselves to vote. The result has been a steep decline in the number of students currently registered as voters. The Graduate Union, in consultation with college MCRs, has therefore established a working party to inform graduate students of these changes. The working party will be working in collaboration with MCRs over the coming weeks to help graduates register to vote up to the deadline of Monday 20th April.
Any graduate student or MCR committee member can volunteer to join this working party, please contact mcr_vicepresident if you are interested.
[Research] Ethics survey
I am conducting a short online survey about ethics in academic research, and I am actively contacting postgraduate researchers, such as yourself, who might be interested in taking part.
Participant requirements:- You need to be a student / academic researcher.
- You need to have conducted research using human participants.
More information and a link to the survey can be found on our Call For Participants study page: https://www.callforparticipants.com/0EOFRS The survey is being conducted by the Centre for Research Excellence, and results will be used to create a new framework for improving current ethical practices and the handling of participant data.
