Clare MCR By-Election

Dear Clare,

It is time for by-elections! Your MCR committee has been working hard over the past weeks. However, many of you might not know that our bar managers and our second social sec are not officially elected (yet). Instead, they have dedicated their time and energy as volunteers. Let´s offer them a chance to get elected!
The by-elections will open on Wednesday the 24th June and run for 3 days, ending midnight on Saturday. You can vote here. Please make sure you click on the link and submit your vote. The interim bar managers and social secs are awaiting the result with great excitement.

    I am running in the by-election for MCR Bar Manager together with Olly McMillan. As you might have realised we have already started to work as Interim but decided we want to commit to it properly. As I have so far taken over the whisky collection, one of our two strong points (the other being the range of excellent beers) I will mostly aspire to keep up the great work of my predecessor (maybe improving efficiency to satisfy the German stereotype). I also plan to have cocktail nights on certain occasions throughout the year. In addition, it will be my task to take care of the tea.I will aim to keep the Bar hospitable and at the same time profitable. The latter will allow important investments to increase the first. A big step our predecessors have initiated and we will pursue is the introduction of a new ice machine to avoid long journeys across Old Court and running out of ice by 10pm. Improving the working conditions of our voluntary Bar Keepers will also take an important place in my work.

    As your new Bar Manager I will ensure that the bar remains a friendly and hospitable place for all Clare students to enjoy. I’ll provide a range of excellent beers and wines so that we can all experience the flavours of the world, while also remaining open to recommendations from all MCR members. In conjunction with the rest of the committee I’ll make sure the MCR can continue be used by members for their own events in a way that is inclusive to the rest of the community. I intend to make sure that Clare MCR continues to be regarded as one of the highest quality bars in Cambridge.

    Dear Clare MCR,
    My name’s Dominika and I’m an (almost) 2nd year MRes+PhD student in Infectious Diseases and Immunology. When I first came to Cambridge I sort of imagined it to be a boring village…not in my dreams have I expected it to be this much fun! And it’s all thanks to Clare and all you lovely grad students!That’s why this year (and in 2016) I want to make sure that both returning students, as well as the freshers, experience as much fun as possible, and to do that, I need your vote! I’ve got a range of ideas of how to make your life at Clare entertaining and memorable (including BOPs, themed-formals, cocktail parties, whiskey tasting, outdoor activities, and many more!), but I cannot do that without you! I’ve already been working with Jac on the President’s Dinner and the Garden Party, so I promise not to slack off 😉
