[CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS] Short Essay Contest: (Re)Thinking Latin America
Depending on social, political and economic realities in one (or several) countries of Latin America, this is an opportunity for students to select the issue that they consider most relevant to their country (or countries) of interest, and to come up with innovative and creative solutions. These solutions would be drafted in a short essay consisting of no more than 500 words.
The four subjects and the corresponding questions that have been selected for this year are as follows:
- Corruption: How can citizens from Latin America make their governments more accountable and transparent?
- Inequality: What would a social protection floor for inequality reduction in Latin America require? How do we guarantee a social protection floor for the reduction of inequalities in Latin America?
- Science and Technology Development: How do we improve the collaboration between universities/research centres and the private sector in order to increase the number of science and technology based companies?
- Education: How can parents in Latin America engage and influence the decision-making processes regarding education policy?

Eligibility: Students enrolled in a UK undergraduate or graduate programme (institutional e-mail address will be required). All nationalities welcome.
