Information on the CURC:
Founded in 1911 from the Cambridge University branch of The Railway Club, the CURC is the second oldest railway enthusiast club in Britain! The CURC tries to arrange an event in Cambridge every week during Full Term. On most Wednesdays or Fridays this involves an invited speaker giving an illustrated talk on a specific subject, and this is almost always a professional from the rail industry or preservation. We’ve had big names in the past, including senior managers from several Train Operating Companies.
We also visit railway sites termly including depots, signalling centres and industrial railways for members. Don’t miss our visit to DB Schenker Toton Depot on Saturday 31st October! (Bombardier UK on Thursday 10th March)
We give you a chance to meet the top employers from across the industry and have huge success in our members going onto top Graduate employment within the railway industry…whether HS2, Balfour Beatty, Crosscountry, Network Rail, DfT etc…
Membership for students costs £8 per year or £20 for life membership. You can pay an annual membership now and upgrade to life later – and life does mean life. We charge £2 at the door for non-members, upon your fourth entry to a talk (first three talks are free). So come and try us out for free, gain exclusive access to key railway professionals and depots and you might just want to become a member! (We won’t tell anyone you are 😉 )
