[Event] Pint of Science
We are calling for all people who love science, art, organisation, marketing, and communications! Are you interested in getting the public to engage with science in a fun and interesting way? Do you want to help organise one of the world’s largest science festivals? Then sign up [1] for Pint of Science [2]!
What is Pint of Science?
Pint of Science is an annual science festival that takes place every May and brings researchers to your local pub to show you the latest happenings in the world of science, spread across a variety of themes. In May 2017, Pint of Science brought enthusiastic scientists to hundreds of pubs in the UK and abroad. In Cambridge, circa 70 volunteers decided on the topics, contacted scientists and organised the events in the pubs to an absolute fantastic standard. Following last year’s huge success, we are very excited to announce Pint of Science will be back on 14th,15th, and 16th of May 2018! The festival will have 6 themes (Atoms to Galaxies, Beautiful Mind, Our Body, Our Society, Planet Earth, and Tech me Out). Creative Reactions, our art-science special event where scientists, artists and volunteers come together to celebrate creativity, will this year celebrate its fourth edition.
To support the festival, there is also the opportunity to join two teams that will be crucial to the success of the event:
Sponsorship (responsible for securing funds to keep PoS running)
Communications (maintaining the Cambridge PoS website, social media etc.).

Additionally, we will be having meeting on November 2nd, 7-8pm in the Rushmore Room of St. Catharine’s College; this will consist of a brief presentation about Pint of Science and the roles available, as well as a good opportunity to ask any questions you might have. Attendance at this meeting is not compulsory though – if you’re already sure you want to take part, then just fill out the Google form above and we will arrange the teams by the middle of November.
