- Come and raise a glass at the Castle Inn! Meet other people interested in the art and science of
conservation and restoration at our inaugural meeting. Ask questions about the term’s events and suggest
anything you’d like to see in the future. All are most welcome! -
The Parker Library
20 October, 4pm
- The Parker Library – open by appointment only – holds one of Cambridge’s finest collections of
manuscripts and early printed books. Join us as Elizabeth Dumas, the Assistant Librarian, guides us
around the collection and explains how these ancient treasures were created and used and how they are
cared for today. Space is limited to twelve places so sign up fast! -
To be announced
4 November
- More will be announced at the Freshers’ Squash. Keep your eyes peeled!
-
The Hamilton Kerr Institute
18 November, 2pm
- The Hamilton Kerr Institute undertakes teaching and conservation at the highest level on a range of
painted works of art. Join us for an afternoon “on location” in Whittlesford where Rupert Featherstone, the
Director, will give a tour of the institute. There will be opportunities to talk to current students and to
examine work undertaken at the institute. Space is again limited to twelve lucky people. Sign up to book
your place! -
“COLOUR: The Art and Science of Illuminated Manuscripts”
2 December, 10am
- Paola Ricciardi, a research associate in the Department of Manuscripts and Printed Books of the
Fitzwilliam Museum, will guide us around the spectacular COLOUR exhibition. Paola was the senior
scientist involved in the technical analysis of the manuscripts and she will be on hand to answer your
questions about the exhibits and stimulate discussion on the fast-changing role of technology in
conservation! Once more, twelve is the limit. Sign up now!
We can accommodate only a small number of people at each event.
