[NOTICE] Apply now- Cambridge University One Health Committee 2016-2017
Dear all,
After the success of the third Cambridge One Health Conference, we are looking to recruit members for the next committee. Deadline for applications (approx 250 words): November 7th.
It is becoming increasingly evident that human and animal health issues are inextricably linked. Global health issues require an interdisciplinary approach to be dealt with effectively. Whether you choose to work in local hospitals, travel the world or advise on global medical and environmental issues, the One Health concept is relevant to your future. Our group helps medical and veterinary students, scientists, and ANYONE who is interested get involved in the One Health initiative. Through our events, we hope to build a platform to enable discussion and networking among students and professionals with a shared interest in One Health.
As a member of the Cambridge One Health Committee 2016-17, you will be involved in holding events themed around One Health, such as lectures, panel discussions or a conference. This provides an excellent opportunity to invite and network with professionals in your One Health interest area.
We are looking for enthusiastic applicants for the following committee positions:
- President: In charge of planning, and coordinating events, and keeping the rest of the committee motivated and on track.
- Publicity officer: In charge of updating the website (HTML), email publicity to universities across the UK, posters, and leaflet advertisements
- Treasurer: We have established connections with a wide base of sponsors from previous events, including the Wellcome Trust. This role would involve contacting sponsors and submitting sponsorship requests with budget proposals and following up with sponsors after the event. As well as allocating funding for planned events.
- General logistics roles (catering, ticketing, and venue): We will allocate you a role based on previous experience or skills. This could involve roles such as contacting the university online sales teams to set up ticket sales, analysing ticket sale data, being the contact point for catering/ venue staff.
In addition, all members of the committee will be responsible for contacting speakers for events.
Application format: Please write a statement of intent (approx. 250 words) addressing the reasons for your interest in the One Health concept and highlighting, with examples, any relevant experience or skills. Please state your course title and year of study in the application. Applications should be emailed as a word/ pdf document attachment to info@onehealthcambridge.com by November 7th 2016.
All applications will be considered, discussed, and from this, successful applicants selected by the current committee. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by the end of November.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further queries. We look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
One Health Cambridge committee
