[EVENT] Secrets of your genome
The Cambridgeshire Branch of the British Science Association are running a public debate on Genome Data Privacy, “The Secrets of Your Genome”, on 7 June from 6-7.30 pm at Hill’s Road Sixth Form College (Science Lecture Room). The purpose of this question-style debate is to increase public awareness of current practices in genomics, discuss how this technology is transforming personalised healthcare as well as highlight issues relating to data security and storage.

- Dr Robert Semple is a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow at the WT-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science and Honorary Consultant Endocrinologist at the University of Cambridge.
- Dr Carolina Haefliger, MD, is the Head of the Companion Diagnostic Unit for Cardiovascular and Metabolism at AstraZeneca, based in Sweden.
- Sam Smith is from medConfidential, an independent non‐partisan organisation campaigning for confidentiality and consent in health and social care.
- Nick Meade is Director of Policy at Genetic Alliance, leading the organisation’s policy on research, healthcare services, genomic technologies, and more.
