EPAfrica works in over twenty schools across three regions in Kenya and Uganda and we recruit around fifty students each year from universities in Oxford, Cambridge, and London. EPAfrica aims to make a long-term impact in the schools we work in through the investment of durable educational resources and the creation of sustainable health, careers and gender equality programmes. We do not ask our volunteers to be teachers or builders, we ask them to immerse themselves in the school environment and make as large and sustainable an impact as possible.

[NOTICE] Python’s- American football

Did you know Cambridge has it’s own American Football team? Or that you can join, irrespective of experience? Come to a training session to give it a try!

The Cambridge University American Football Team (the Cambridge “Pythons”) re-formed three seasons ago and plays full contact against other universities in BUCS, reaching the National Playoffs last season. The team is looking to recruit more players than ever this year to build on our success. This season we have an expanded coaching staff, awesome new kit, are applying for Blues status, and will be playing Varsity in Cambridge at Grange Road (CURUFC home ground). It’s going to be a great year, whether you want to play or support!

You don’t need to have played or even watched the game before. Most of the team had never played before coming to Cambridge and were a complete mixture of shapes/heights/builds – don’t think you won’t be right for it. There’s a position for everyone on an American Football team and all kit is provided, so there is no need to worry about that.

We’ve had a big influx in new players, most of whom are new to the sport, but are still looking for more people to join us. If you’re interested in what all the fuss is about we’d love to meet you and show you the ropes and under the guidance of a large and experienced coaching staff you’ll develop quickly into a play-maker.

Prof. Sir Peter Lachmann FRS will be speaking on “Active and Passive Immunization against Infectious Disease”. Sir Lachmann is emeritus Sheila Joan Smith Professor of Immunology at the University of Cambridge and has held a number of distinguished positions including President of the Royal College of Pathologists, Biological Secretary of the Royal Society, and Founder President of the UK’s Academy of Medical Sciences. Make sure you take the opportunity to hear this distinguished speaker!

On the heels of an incredible season last year, the Cambridge University Ice Hockey Team (the “Light Blues”) is presently looking to recruit new players from across the university to play for the varsity squad. If you have played ice hockey at any amateur, competitive or elite level in your lifetime, the Ice Hockey Team wants to hear from you.
