[TEACHING OPPORTUNITY] Teach Humanities with Reach Cambridge

A teaching opportunity at the start of December, relevant to all PhD/Postdoc students in Humanities subjects. Reach Cambridge has been running highly successful academic courses for international students since 2004, and this is an opportunity to teach on a course in the Humanities for a group of twenty six 14-15 year old students from a high-performing girls’ high school in Singapore. This exciting course will cover a range of topics across a variety of disciplines, including Geography, Social Anthropology and Philosophy.

What you probably haven’t heard is that Ebola has killed about one third of the world gorilla population or that the current human outbreaks might have been prevented by tracking a spreading wave of Ebola infection in fruit bats. Come hear about these topics and also my research testing experimental Ebola vaccines for use on wild gorillas and chimpanzees: the same vaccines that could control the raging human outbreak in West Africa. Oh, yes, I will also explain why you are not going to die from Ebola…

This is an invitation to join the Participant Panel of the Cambridge Laboratory for Research into Autism (CLaRA) and the Visual Cognition Lab at the Department of Psychology.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with active research at the University. We would not be able to conduct this research without the time kindly given by volunteers and as a consequence we are always looking for participants to take part in psychology studies throughout the year. By completing the Questionnaire you will have the opportunity (though not any obligation) to participate in research studies as and when there is one suitable. CHAS is an informal network of postgraduate students and faculty members in Cambridge in the humanities and social sciences. We seek to explore how the study of the humanities and social sciences relates to the Christian faith and to support each other in this enterprise. Dr Jonathan Chaplin is the Director of the Kirby Laing Institute for Christian Ethics and a member of the Divinity Faculty of Cambridge University. He is a specialist in Christian political thought, and has authored or edited nine books and reports, and many articles, in this field. He read PPE at Pembroke College, Oxford, and received an MPhil in Political Theory from the Institute for Christian Studies (Toronto) and a PhD from LSE. He previously served as Associate Professor of Political Theory at ICS Toronto, and was Visiting Lecturer at the VU University, Amsterdam, from 2007-2011.
