[EVENT] ‘How to code’ workshop
The Cambridge Coding Academy, a group of four Cambridge PhD students and a Research Associate, is organising hands-on workshops to teach you how to code in one day. The first instalment will occur on the 18th of October.
Throughout the day you will learn programming and a range of related skills by building a clone of Flappy Bird. You will do this in Javascript, a programming language which is used all over the web and everywhere in the industry. Whether you need programming skills to analyse data for your course or just want to write programs for things you are passionate about, you can acquire the essential skills to start your own project.
The workshop is subsidised by sponsors so it’s only £10 for undergraduate students and £15 for members of the University. More information and how to sign up at http://cambridgecoding.com/
[NOTICE] The Graduate Dining Society
Would you like to combine eating (and drinking) with meeting new people? If so the Graduate Dining Society may be for you. We host dinners and formals around Cambridge. Come solo and mingle with other grads across disciplines and college boundaries. There’s no membership fee, simply sign up to our mailing list and you can join as many or as few events as you like.
[NOTICE] Stokes Society
“The Stokes Society is the science society of Pembroke College. Each term the society provides a range of interesting talks on areas of science from all disciplines, with speakers last year including Professor Lord Robert Winston and Professor David Nutt. There is also a cocktail evening, a yearly garden party and a number of black tie events and swaps with other societies. This vibrant social scene is an excellent way to make friends in other colleges and from other subjects. Membership is a bargain at just £5 for a year, or £7 for life. Not just for Pembroke, not just for scientists! Please come along to our drop-in session in the Nihon Room, Pembroke College from 3-4pm Monday 6th October.”
[ADVERT] Cambridge Impronauts.
We regularly perform improvised comedy shows of between 15 minutes and an hour long as part of college ents, and we’re available for hire as part of your Freshers’ Week line-up, or for ents throughout the year. Our rate is £60/hr. Whether you’ve hired us in the past, or are looking for something new to add to this year’s line-up, feel free to get in touch.
If you want to keep us in mind for the future, we have a shiny new website: http://www.improv.org.uk/ as well as our trusty FB page: https://www.facebook.com/impronauts where you can keep up to date and contact us.
(Sorry if this email has been directed to the wrong member of the team/an ex-member! Please forward this to whoever who think will be interested.)
