The event will take place at 7.30pm on the 7th June in the Old Combination Room, Trinity College. Tickets are £12. Wine and canapes will be provided as will musical entertainment.
For more information and to buy your tickets head to www.cambridgerag.org.uk/auction.
[APPEAL]: Flood relief
As some of you may have heard, Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia have been hit by the worst flooding ever seen in the region in the past 120 years. Many tens of thousands of people have been evacuated, leaving some towns completely deserted.
That is why we would like to ask you as our fellow students, colleagues and friends, to help if you can by supporting the relief efforts in these countries.
For more information on these unfortunate events, as well as on how to help, please read the document attached.
We thank you very much for your support and hope that we can raise awareness and enough help to send back to the people who need it most.

[EVENT] CU Scavenger Hunt
The Cambridge University Scavenger Hunt is back! That means that it’s once again time to prepare for a memorable 36 hours (described by one participant last year as ‘the most fun I’ve ever had sober’), where you will scavenge for items, do silly activities you never thought you’d find yourself doing, and generally enjoy yourselves in the Cambridge sun.
This year, CUSH 2014 will be running from 9AM on WEDNESDAY 11TH JUNE until 9PM on THURSDAY 12TH JUNE.
A team can be made up of up to five people. To register in advance, send an email to adr34@cam.ac.uk with your team name, the names of the members of your team and, ideally, a team photo.
For more details, including how to register in person on the day and past lists of items, you can check out the website at http://cush.soc.srcf.net/
[INFO] MAY WEEK ON AGORA
A message from the Cambridge students who built the Agora website:
Every year that May Week happens, we always find out about some of the best garden parties and May Week events after they happen. Plus, it’s mad trying to get tickets. So we built the kind of May Week page that we wish had existed long ago: www.joinagora.com/mayweek
- MORE EVENTS. Two members of our team update the page multiple times/day with ticket updates, new garden parties, and other events. There are currently 61 May Week events, more than any other site.
- MORE TICKETS. Over 135 May Ball and garden party tickets have been resold in the past two weeks. If current trends continue, more tickets will be resold on Agora than anywhere else.
Check it out! www.joinagora.com/mayweek
[HELP NEEDED] Cambridge Hands-On Science Events

Cambridge Hands-On Science (a.k.a. CHaOS) is a student society which aims to show children and families that science can be fun, exciting and something that they can understand. We will be demonstrating fun science experiments to the public at Cambridge Science Centre on 31st May and 1st June and we would love some grad volunteers! The sessions are only an hour and a half each (morning 11:00-12:30 and afternoon 14:00-15:30 each day) and you can sign up to volunteer for just one, or all of them if you’re feeling keen! We’ll give you a quick intro before you start if you haven’t demonstrated with us before. The sessions will be great fun and give you a break to chat about science with the public! If you would like to sign up, please go to www.chaosscience.org.uk/node/1593.

CHaOS are also running a 7-week long Summer Roadshow from Mon 30th June to Sat 16th Aug, where we take a mini bus of volunteers and a van full of experiments camping around the country visiting schools, town halls and Scout jamborees. We need volunteers who are at least 23 years old and have had a UK driving licence for at least 3 years with no accidents, and who would be happy to drive a van between Tues 8th July – Mon 14th July or later in tour between Fri 18th July – Mon 21st July.
We also need volunteers who are at least 21 years old and have had a UK/EU driving licence for at least 3 years, and who would be happy to drive a 9-seated vehicle for the tour between Mon 30th June – Fri 4th July or later in the tour between Friday 25th July – Monday 28th July and Sat 9th Aug – Sat 16th Aug.
These are the weeks we urgently need drivers – however if you are free at other points between Mon 30th June to Sat 16th Aug and would be happy to be a reserve driver then also drop us an email and we’ll see if we can fit you in!
What would I do?
We visit schools and town halls and you get to talk to lots of children and families, while playing with fun/noisy/messy science experiments. In the evening we do sociable stuff, such as BBQs at the beach or our campsite. It is great fun and useful experience in engaging the public in science. Our sponsorship covers costs such as food and travel so coming on tour won’t cost you any more than your time.
To sign up, just email: contact@chaosscience.org.uk
More information about volunteering with CHaOS can be found on our website: www.chaosscience.org.uk/volunteers_home

tea facial steaming meditation, Daoyin breathing exercise, and also
learn the third chapter: ‘Supplement of Qi by Fairy Maiden’ (仙女补气).Time: 10.00-12.00 am, 24th May 2014
Venue: Downing College, Music RoomThe session is totally free. Again, because the space and equipment are
limited, we can only accommodate at most 10 people for one session. If
you would like to join, please sign up as soon as possible:We will send you an email to confirm your attendance.
Introduction to tea yoga:
Tea yoga is a system of health maintenance practice, created by Master
Jingyan in recent years based on the traditional method of vapour
therapy in ancient China and yoga from India. In the practice, we use
tea leaves as the spices in the facial steaming meditation. Tea steam
opens the skin’s pores while deeply cleansing and rejuvenating the skin;
tea steam comes inside the body and helps to open our acupuncture points
and channels, clearing blockages, and stimulates the organs to balance
themselves and improve the immune system. During the whole process, you
are relaxed and become more aware of your body. It helps people to
release pressure, harmonize the heart, the body, and the affairs of
daily life. For people who work too hard at desk, Tea steaming
meditation also helps to cure tiredness of the eyes and improves the
eyesight. Yoga and Daoyin exercises help to relieve the pain and stress
in the shoulders and neck. For all our participants, please note the following:
- Don’t have too much food before coming for the tea yoga.
- Wear suitable clothes (the kind for yoga will be good), it’s better
to have no buckles in the front. - Bring a big bath towel along with you, which is large enough to cover
your head and shoulder. - It will be the best to have a hot shower before doing tea yoga, if
not possible, then you have to clean your face clearly before doing tea
yoga (You could bring your own facial cleaner along and there are places
to wash face). - If you have long hair, please tie up your hair.
- To bring a yoga mattress by yourself is encouraged.
